The World of Neonatal Care

Neonatal Nurse

Posted on: January 20, 2011

Neonatal nurses have a very difficult, but necessary, job in this world.  Neonatal nurses deal with the emotional ups and downs of being in the NICU of a hospital where infants are in dire need of special care.  Neonatal nurses are the people who need to be there for not only these infants in need of special care, but also the infants’ families. A neonatal nurse needs to be prepared to answer the questions of the infants caregivers who are most likely in disarray from all of the demanding issues going on with their infant.  Neonatal nurses become neonatal nurses after becoming a registered nurse and then afterward specializing in the field of neonatal care.  Although neonatal nursing has not always been its own part of the medical field, it has developed and advanced over the years. Technology improvements as well as new ways of caring for the infants requiring neonatal care have helped to increase success in treating the infant in the neonatal intensive care unit.
